If you wanted to buy...you are too late!

well after 4 exhausting days of our house on market....we have an accepted offer!!  4 days!  that's it.  this was the fastest that our realtor has ever been under contract on a listing.  we are really excited to have this behind us (barring any issues with inspection, etc.) and not have the possibility of 2 mortgages.  we cannot thank my parents enough for all the help they provided us by painting, installing a disposal, reworking trim around a door, etc.  just stuff that would have taken me a month to do we were all able to get the tasks done in 2 weekends.

on to the next chore at the "big house" is finalizing the electric and starting the bricking.  they need to hurry up now because we will homeless in 30-45 days!!

more to come.

Hey, you wanna buy a house?!?!

yep, that's right! our house is on the market! and!! we have our first showing tonight at 5! the for sale sign was put in our yard yesterday afternoon and we are thrilled! the professional photographer came over on wednesday and took some pictures of the house. they turned out great! they took a lot of pictures and the realtor will keep posting them online to keep the house on the top of the "for sale" list. i guess it is a better way to market the house, idk.  anyway, check it out HERE!

yesterday, we met with the electrician at the "big house" as jack calls it. we had a walk through with him to decide where to put the recessed lighting, special outlets we need, cable outlets, etc. while we were there, we found out that the brick is being ordered today and will be on-site starting tomorrow. it sounds like the brick could be finished in 4 days, which is crazy fast to me!

i took some pictures while i was at the house. the roof is finished except for the section over the front porch. we are having a metal roof installed in that section. we are having a burnished slate found HERE installed (found under the 26MSColorfast45 or 26 gage PDVF). the style will either be a 12" or 16" with minor ribs. do you think i could pass as a roofer one day?? see how much i'm learning?!?! don't you dare ask me what the 26 mscolorfast45 or 26 gage pdvf are!! :)

these pictures show the detail around the windows and on the peaks.
the roof just below the dormer will be the metal roof. we will also have a couple of columns on the porch that are in the craftsman style.

come and knock on my door....and windows!

that's right everyone...we have a doors and windows! woohoo!!!  we drove past the house on wednesday night to find that they were installed that day and they look great, minus the plastic they still have on them. our door will be stained a dark wood color later in the process. i've attached some pictures to show you the windows. this will also be your first peek into the inside the house!

hard to see them, but they are there. it was not pretty outside so that made the lighting horrible!

front door and dining room on your right

this is taken from one side of the great room, the dining room is to the left of the staircase.  the door is in the breakfast area and will go out to our screened in porch!!
the area above the breakfast area will be jack's room.

our ceilings are about 17 ft tall

hard to see, but you get the idea.

this week, we met with our cabinet guy. he designed our kitchen and we have until tuesday (not a firm date, but a date he would like to order by) to let him know about our cabinet decisions for the kitchen, master bath and 2 bathrooms upstairs. we have most of it decided, but just picking out what we want in the bathrooms. will post pictures after we've finalized it.

oh and we ordered our appliances!!! kurt's mom has a great, i mean GREAT discount at ge. we saved so much money going through her by using the friends and family discount and the specials they were running.  we ordered the monogram line of a gas cooktop, double oven, dishwasher and 120v advantium. joan has a french door refrigerator they don't use that is brand new (it was a test model) and she is giving that to us!! i'm so excited!!!

"for sale"...almost!!!

it is official! we've signed the paperwork on our current home to get it on the market. we had a stager come out and take a look at the house and gave us a few suggestions on what to change/update, buy, etc. on my shopping list, i need to purchase a few candles to make our master bath feel like a "spa". and that's about it! i was pleasantly surprised with how our house "showed" to the stager. she changed the direction of the kitchen table, moved a chair in the living room and that was it!
she said that our house was an easy appointment for her.

this past weekend, we did some minor repair work on the house. kurt's parents, tom and joan, came over and helped us a ton! they also took a TON of plastic storage containers home with them, full of stuff! 10 to be exact, were filled to the brim.

this coming weekend, we need to paint the trim around the floors and clean, clean, clean!!! we also will be working out in the yard and landscaping to make the outside look just as good as the inside.

once our weekend chores are finished, then a professional photographer will come out and take pictures. from there, it will be a day or so and the listing will be put online. i'll post it once it is!  yeah!!

p.s. for an update on our new house, we had a walk through with our builder on saturday. we made a couple of minor changes, pocket doors to regular doors and extended two walls in the dining room to incorporate a china cabinet.  we found that our bathtubs are in place in both bathrooms on the 2nd floor. the one in our basement would be in place in the next couple of days. our builder said that our windows should be going in in the next couple of days. kurt ran past there on his way back to work today and said they were prepping the openings to put the windows in. then next goes the roof and then they will start bricking the exterior!! woohoo!! pictures to come later once we have the windows in!! oh and i've received a call from the place where we will pick out our flooring and plan to make an appointment with them later this week. we also have our cabinet guy working on our kitchen layout!!

four walls and a roof

the framing is almost complete. once they started putting up the roof and walls, it has moved pretty quickly. when we got back into town from bowling green on sunday, we found that they had started on the screened in porch. we can already tell, we are going to be using that a lot!!

kurt and i are "interviewing" two realtors tonight for our current home. can't believe we are already at this step in the process!

the picture below was taken on sunday...

and these two were taken today. you can see they added to large windows in the basement.
