we.are.homeless.

well....sorta! let's just say, there is nothing in our names except for renter's insurance of our pod and storage unit. it feels great!!!

here are some pictures of the house. the first one was posted when it was for sale in 2005. the one of my dad and i was taken in summer 2006.  the last one was taken yesterday. look how much the tree has grown in 7 years!!

the big move last saturday, went better than expected! my parents, charlie & nichole, kurt's parents, kyle, kurt, jack and i, well not jack, moved us out out of house and into a 16x8 pod and a 10x15 storage unit. the storage unit was a last minute rental. we were getting close to the end of the pod and realized that none of our outdoor stuff was going to fit in there. it turned out okay b/c i really didn't want my living room couch next to the lawn mower.

we cleaned the house on sunday, finished moving a couple of odds and ends on monday, cut the grass on tuesday and said goodbye to our sweet home on thursday. today, we had the closing and turned the keys over to the new owners. i have the check in hand....well, not any longer, now it is in the bank account. makes me nervous having that money in my purse!

we've officially moved in with tom & joan and it is great! kurt and i are in his old room and jack his sleeping in his crib (we moved it) in kyle's old room. we've got plenty of space and feel very blessed to have a place to live.

we met with the builder last night and went over a few things. he feels that he can get the house done in 6 wks. bring it on! we are so excited!! last night when we arrived to the house, we found that the hardwood floors were being installed. even though they aren't stained, they are beautiful!!

they've started on the soffits and trim. we went with a linen color. once the shake is up (tuesday) and the cement board is painted, the linen will really pop! it is coming along!!

The time has come.....

Our POD was delivered today. It is 16x8 feet and I'm hoping with smart packing, that everything will fit. We've decided to sell our washer and dryer so that will free up some space.

I'm going to really miss this home. It is going to be very bittersweet for me. This was my first house, the money I put down for the down payment was from my Grandparents. I was blessed to have been able to furnish my house with several items from my Grandparent's home in Atlanta.

There are several other reasons this move will be bittersweet. I bought this home when I was single only dating Kurt.  Kurt proposed to me 6 months after I moved in. We were married the following year and little did we know, three years later, we would be bringing home the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. This home as been a wonderful place to raise Jack. He loves his room and I'm sure will miss it just as much as I will.

Now it is time to close this chapter in our lives. I will miss this little home, but am very excited about the new memories we will make at our new home.  Temporarily, we are moving in with Kurt's mom and dad. Our new home is scheduled to be finished mid-June. We will see....

the wolf huffed and puffed but he could not blow down that brick house....

well no wolf could blow our house down...we have a "brick house" (cue the song)! the brick is finished and it looks sooo good!!!  we are really happy with how it turned out.  the fiber cement board (horizontal board on the mid section in the front)  is going up. once it is completed, then the shake will be put in place. the fiber cement will be painted the same color as the shake. the exterior is really coming along.  our next step is figuring out what color we want to have the gutters and the trim on the house. decisions desicisons....  oh and tonight, we are meeting with the tile lady!

we're movin' on out!!

a closing date has been set......friday, april 26th! 30 days exactly from the day we accepted the offer. and of course, they need immediate possession. we even offered to give them our washer and dryer and pay them rent to let us stay. oh well, we tried!

the plan is in place for "operation move out of chesapeake bay drive!" the 16 ft pod will arrive at our house on friday, april 19th and we will load up our house and then they will come and get the pod on sunday or monday. the pod will be stored in their warehouse until we need it delivered. in the interim, we will be living with tom and joan, again...thank goodness for them!!! they've been wonderful and a huge help to us!!! our house is still on schedule to be finished mid-june. i'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

on with the brick!

well, they've started on the brick and i can't believe how quickly it is going up. it looks great!! the mortar looked a little dark at first, but it dried later. kurt and i both really like it!! for a quick refresher, this is the brick/mortar we picked out.

and this is what it looks like on the house!

the workers were working like mad dogs at the house yesterday. they are really taking advantage of the daylight lasting longer. i think they'll have the brick done by saturday!  jack really enjoyed looking out the dining room window watching the workers.

brick, duc work, and back of the house views

we went to the "big house" on saturday since it was such a beautiful day! our brick has been delivered and we can't wait to see what it looks like on the house. jack had a great time playing with all the gravel that was delivered. if i would let him, he would take off and jump in the pile of dirt and gravel.

the hvac guys were finishing up installing all of the duc work on the 2nd floor. once all of this is complete, then it will be time for drywall!!

i realized that i haven't shown you all the back of the house. my phone has an option to take a panoramic picture so i thought that would be a great way to show you the back and side.

the rooms on the 2nd floor on this side is a guest room (left double window) and the bonus room (single window ont he right). the bonus room runs to the front of the house above the garage. the 4th bedroom is over the foyer/dining room which faces the front of the house.

from left to right, the rooms are the master, the great room, the breakfast room, and the screened in porch. the 2nd floor room on the right, is jack's room.the other two rooms are int

our bedroom is on this side of the house.
