june 25th update!

well, you might remember in my last post that i stated on thursday it was our most stressful day? i spoke too soon! friday, was the most stresful day!  first we found out that the 14 day extension was not accepted because of the rise in interests rates. then we found out that our rate went up to 3.75% and there was a 40% chance we were going to have to close that day. which we were fine with. but then our appraiser wouldn't push the appraisal through because we didn't have grass or carpet. what the heck! the padding was down for the carpet and the yard was being graded for sod. who doesn't move in without carpet and grass!?!? we could not understand the reasoning behind that decision. so, then we found out that we have to close this coming friday the 28th and that was the last chance we have at the interest rate of 3.75% or it was going to shoot up to over 4.5%! ok....but the straw that broke the camel's back was that we found that our carpet is on backorder and they had no clue when it would be in. perfect, just freakin' perfect.

on friday, when i left work. kurt and i decided that we would take a chance and cancel our carpet order and go to the place where we got the carpet and try to find something in stock. the lady said they already didn't have much in stock, let alone the amount we needed. 122 ft of carpet. i didn't care of they put orange carpet in my house, i just wanted some! we walked through the warehouse and low and behold, we found some. it was like the skies opened up and the angels started singing! they had the perfect (not orange) carpet with more than enough in stock. "done! we will take it," we said! so they worked our job in and should be at the house as i'm typing this. in fact, i'm going to double check on that right now.

we were so relieved to have gotten that done. we went out to the house after work on friday and the guy was there grading. he said that he would be done on saturday afternoon. when we went to the house on sunday morning, it was finished! the grading we done and the lot looked great! the sod started going down yesterday. here is what we found when we arrived to the house after work. the rest of the sod in the backyard will be put down today.

exterior of the house

just a quick update. yesterday was stressful and probably the most stressful we've experienced during this whole process. to make a long story short, we are locked in at 3.5% interest rate and if we didn't close by today, then it would be increased to 4.5%! but! fortunately, we were able to extend the rate for another 14 days for only $1k (half of which our builder is paying because he said we could close by the 21st and here we are....). anyway, this gives us plenty of time to have the carpet installed (still no word) and the landscaping and grass to be completed.  we.are.relieved! so as of now, no close date established, but it will be within the next 14 days!

so, back to the actual house! the outside has been completely painted and finished. our deck has to "cure" for a while, so we won't be staining it until this fall.  other than that, we love it!!! check it out!

our cabinet hardware was installed and it totally changes the look!

here is a view of the kitchen from the great room.

oh and check out the light that will be over our kitchen table. don't worry....we will take the plastic off!

now, the pantry!! i had wooden shelves installed. they will be painted the color of the woodwork. love them!!

craziness....

no pictures with this post, just an update. the house looks beautiful on the inside, outside (landscaping, grass) not so much. they are currently working on it.oh and on the inside...no carpet as of yet. seriously, i thought carpet was "kept in stock". something about the mill, blahblahblah, don't give me that BS, install my carpet!

anyway.... we did a walk through yesterday and found just a few things that needed to be done on the inside, but it is pretty much ready (minus the you know what!).

we are waiting on the appraisal to come back. once that is done and the carpet is installed then we will close. now is just the waiting game.

i do have the keys to the house...i guess the builder trusts me not to move anything in...not that i can move anything in without the carp...ugh! and the pod is being delivered tomorrow as scheduled.

we are going out there tonight and i promise to take some pics. they put the final coat of poly on the floor yesterday afternoon. the painter was finishing up and the outside was being worked on. the hardware on the kitchen cabinets have been installed, they look fab! the fridge is in, thanks to my in-laws, kurt and kyle. oh and my washer/dryer is in as well!!

look for some pictures tomorrow and hopefully an update on the C word!! :)

june 13th update!!!

big progress in today's post!! the plumber was at the house yesterday along with the shower door/closet shelving guy.

the most impacting update is the shower door. we upgraded on our door and it was totally worth the extra money we spent! look how beautiful it is!!

they also hung the mirrors in our bathroom and the bathroom hardware, i.e. towel rings, hooks, toilet paper holders, etc.

next they hung the mirrors in jack's bathroom. isn't it adorable?!?! i still have to pick up some shades for his lights.

our closets shelving was installed.
jack's closet:

kurt's side of the master closet:

rachel's side of the closet. i will have shoes shelves that will hang at an angle.

then our plumber installed our kitchen faucet.

most of the doors have been installed with the knobs.

our 1/2 bath vanity that kurt and i picked up at lowe's was installed. today, i'm going to look for a mirror to put in there.

and last but not least, our gas cooktop was connected! kurt couldn't wait to test it out!

last night we did a walk through and then met with the landscaper. today they are going to start grading the yard!!

more lights have been installed. in fact, when i got to the house yesterday evening, i walked right past 5 new lights! i didn't even realized the lights on either side of the garage and the 3 on the back of the house had been installed!

the dining room light fixture is in place. i LOVE it!!!!!!!!

next our bathroom light fixtures are in place.

then our advantium oven/microwave and dishwasher are in....and no my dishwasher is not blue if you were wondering! :)

the columns/posts are in but not finished. they will taper the top part of it to make it wider just above the brick.

Jack is already enjoying the front porch. here he is saying "CHEESE" really loud!

i talked to our builder this morning, the plumber has arrived so big changes will be happening today!!  we have a walk through tonight!
